Wrens nesting in a planter near a deer skull on my deck inspired me to paint a still life with the bird and the skull. I had all of the painting done except the wren and didn't want to mess it up. So I did a little drawing of the wren to make sure I could really do it.

I think it works pretty well as a stand alone piece.
