Fajada Butte
Fajada Butte

2006

Painted under a ramada at the picnic area at Chaco Culture National Historic Park. There is supposed to be a trail that takes you up to the top of the butte where there used to be a solstice marker until it was destroyed by vandals.

Chaco is an amazing place four hours of bad road from anywhere. You can walk all through the ruins there on your own, which would be unheard of in more popular parks in the area.

The sky kind of peters out around the edges and below the center of the butte.

I really need to use this as a sketch for a studio painting.
