A haiga is a combination of an image and a haiku. I had written this haiku a couple weeks ago, and I had an image in mind for it.
My friend Matt gave me a bottle of his home made walnut ink. I was playing with it on Sunday afternoon and drew this out. First I tried it with a brush, but it was pretty sloppy. So I tried again. The second one was better, but still pretty ragged. Then I put down the brush and picked up my glass pen. It's still wobbly in a couple places, but much better. Maybe I should try it again.
I had even more trouble with the glass pen when I tried to write the haiku. After a few failed practice attempts I brought out an archival ink pen. I still came out a little directionally challenged with the lettering, but I'm pleased with the overall effort.
